Texas native, Rodney Carrington has been making audiences laugh for almost twenty years with his unique brand of stand-up comedy. The country singer-songwriter has recorded eight major label comedy albums which have sold more than two million copies … two of which have been certified Gold. His albums include such hit comedy-inspired songs as “Dancin’ With a Man”, “Show Them to Me” and “Don’t Look Now”. His Christmas album, Make It Christmas features the song, “Camouflage and Christmas Lights”. Carrington is also an actor having starred in his own sitcom, Rodney which ran for two seasons on ABC. As well, he co-wrote and co-starred in the feature film, Beer for My Horses with Toby Keith. In 2008, Carrington co-starred in Trace Adkins’ hit music video, “I Got My Game On” and later won a CMT Music Video Award for “Supporting Character of the Year” for his role. He went on to receive extensive airplay on CMT for his 2009 comedy sketch music video, “If I’m the Only One” … the song also debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Comedy Music charts. In addition, he released a book entitled Rodney Carrington: Coming Clean. Carrington is currently gearing up for his North American “Laughter’s Good” tour where he’ll perform a mix of his comedic songs and his hilarious stand-up.

Steve Appleton Public Memorial Service to be Held at Taco Bell Arena Feb. 23

Public Memorial Service Information

The public memorial service for Steven R. Appleton, longtime Micron Chairman and CEO and Boise State alumnus, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Taco Bell Arena on the Boise State campus.

A memorial fund has been established in Appleton’s name with the Boise State University Foundation. The Micron Foundation has donated $25,000 in honor of Appleton.

Boise State Background

Steve Appleton came to Boise State University in 1978 on a tennis scholarship. He was captain of the tennis team his senior year and won the Big Sky doubles championship. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1982. In 2001, he received the university’s prestigious Silver Medallion award for his service to the university and in May 2007 he was awarded an honorary doctorate.

Appleton served as co-chair of the university’s most recent comprehensive fundraising campaign for scholarships, programs and buildings. He also was a Boise State University Foundation board member from 1995-2002 and was a lifetime Chaffee Guild member.

He was instrumental in the development of Boise State’s College of Engineering, which offered its first classes in 1996, and construction of the Appleton Tennis Complex on the Boise State campus. His support has been invaluable to both the College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering.

In 1999, he established the Micron Foundation, which has led to several generous donations to Boise State programs and initiatives, including the Micron Business and Economics Building at the corner of University and Capitol, slated to open later this year, and doctoral programs in the departments of Materials Science and Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
